As part of the Tel Aviv University Board of Governors' annual meeting, a festive inauguration ceremony for the Center was held last Friday, May 31, 2024. The ceremony followed a celebratory reception in the presence of Mr. Alfred Akirov, founder of the Alrov Group, whose generous donation enabled the establishment of the Center, and members of the Tel Aviv University Board of Governors.
The ceremony commenced with an opening address by Prof. Elhanan Borenstein, head of the Alrov Center for Digital Medicine, who commented on the tremendous potential of the digital medicine domain and on the impact of research supported by the Center. It was followed by greetings from Prof. Ariel Porat, president of Tel Aviv University and Prof. Roni Gamzu, CEO of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, both of whom highlighted the incredible opportunities of this joint Center and the generosity of Mr Akirov in supporting it.
Prof. Porat and Prof. Gamzu then awarded Mr. Akirov a symbolic glass key as a token of appreciation for his generous donation that helped establishing the center, which was followed by brief remarks from Mr. Akirov.
Also attended the ceremony, Prof. Mark Shtaif, Rector of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Keren Avraham, Dean of the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, Mr. Amos Elad, Vice President for Resource Development of Tel Aviv University, and Ms. Dafna Meitar-Nechmad, Chairwoman of the Tel Aviv University Board of Governors.
