Last Tuesday, 16.6.26, the Alrov Center for Digital Medicine held its annual symposium, attended by Prof. Ariel Porat, President of Tel Aviv University, Prof. Eli Sprecher, CEO, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Prof. Karen Avraham, Dean of the Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, Prof. David Zeltser, Deputy Director, R&D and Innovation & Director, Internal Medicine Division, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Prof. Elhanan Borenstein, Head of the Alrov Center for Digital Medicine, Ms. Liat Nadai Arad, Chief Transformation Officer, Head of I-NEXT Data, and Mr. Alfred Akirov, Founder and Chairman of Alrov Group, whose generous donation made the establishment of the center possible.

The Alrov Center for Digital Medicine strives to advance innovative, groundbreaking research in the field of digital medicine, drawing upon the extensive expertise and capabilities of these two institutions, and to promote the digital medicine research community. The Center was established thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Alfred Akirov.

The symposium, held this year at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), welcomed approximately 100 physicians, researchers, students, and industry leaders from Tel Aviv University and Ichilov, providing a unique platform for collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of ideas in digital medicine.

Prof. Elhanan Borenstein opened the symposium, introduced the Alrov Center for Digital Medicine, and invited the distinguished guests to deliver their greetings. Following this, Mr. Or Kamara, Chief Technology Officer, I-NEXT DATA, delivered the keynote lecture:

"Gen-AI in healthcare: Between breakthrough and breakdown"

In addition to the keynote lecture, the symposium showcased several innovative research projects that had been supported by the Alrov Center for Digital Medicine in previous years:

A) Preventing the risk of hip fractures & personalizing implants for such fractures

“Personalizing mental health: Early detection and triage via transdiagnostic digital monitoring”

• Prof. Neta Cohen (TASMC) and Ms. Shannon Adler (MSc student in Prof. Tom Schonberg’s lab, TAU)

“Developing artificial intelligence (AI)-based clinical decision support tool to flag high-risk diagnoses in pediatric emergency medicine”

• Dr. Ariel Tankus (TASMC) and Dr. Bracha Laufer (TAU)

“Expanding speech-and-brain data for AI-based speech neuroprostheses using 24/7 recordings in the hospital ward”

• Dr. Hadar Kolb(TASMC) and Dr. Or Perlman (TAU)

“Quantitative and rapid characterization of multiple sclerosis lesions using AI boosted biophysics guided molecular MRI”

Call for Proposals 2026 – Now Open!

We are excited to announce the third Call for Proposals by the Alrov Center, aimed at fostering collaborations between researchers from Tel Aviv University and the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) and supporting groundbreaking research in digital medicine.

This round offers grant applications in two distinct tracks, with an increased funding allocation for Flagship projects:

· Proof-of-Concept projects – up to ₪100,000 per project (for one year).

· Flagship projects – up to ₪750,000 per project (for a two-year study, with second-year funding contingent on progress).

📅 Proposal submission deadline: September 16, 2026
